R4S Day 3 Friday 9/23

Daily Report Friday, September 23, 2022

After two canceled days we finally had great soaring weather.  The wind was blowing and was 15 @320 which would give the pilots the ridge time that they all come to New Castle for.   The only negative was that the day was blue but, that was easily overcome with the promise of nice ridge soaring.

The tasks were different for 18 meter and FAI classes.   The 18 Meter was Alt Start A  5mi, Big Walker 1mi, Covington 15mi, Narrows 15mi, FinishCylin 1mi,  for a nominal distance of 235.34mi.  In FAI class it was Alt Start A 5mi,  Big Walker 1mi, New Castle 4mi, Maggie 3mi, SweetSpring 8mi, Narrows 15mi, FinishCylin 1mi.

In the 18 Meter Class Glen Kelley was the 1000 point winner at 88.47 mph and 290.88 miles.  This puts him in second place, and he is nipping on the heels of SM.

In the FAI Handicapped class it was again Evan Ledeman with 814 points (MT) with a speed of 91.66 mph and a distance of 273.85 (80.48, 240.44 handicapped) Evan is firmly in first place as we head into the last day.
