Practice Days June 3rd 4th

The Cordele Practice days proved to be challenging and only a small number of pilots chose to fly on June 3rd (7), but then many of them had been flying all week during the MGSA badge camp and they needed a day of rest.

The 4th started out with heavy overcast skies, but cleared considerably by launch time.  Only 18 of the contestants took to the sky with predictions of rain late in the day.  We only had 2 landouts and I'm sure they all wanted to get home for our Welcome Dinner under the tent.  We were pleased the showers never happend and the great breeze meant the gnats couldn't fly, so we had a lovely cookout planned by Lyn Forbes, cooked by Murray Forbes and prepared by many of our volunteer crew members.

The winners for the practice day on the 4th were:

Sports: 3rd - FL Steven Tellmann, 2nd - Team 1K Mertins/Patton, and 1st RM Randy Morningstar a who is new to racing with an actual speed of 39.78, distance 99.09.

FAI:  3rd - KZ Billy Kerns, 2nd - WL Werner Ruegger, 1st - 2P Jake Alspaugh with an actual speed 55.05, distance 111.39

18 Meter:  3rd - W2 Scott Gross, 2nd - C1 Mamad Takallu, 1st 198 Steve Vihlen  with a  speed of  48.56, distance 99.08

We are looking forward to a great start to the contest on Sunday.
