Day 4 Final

The contest was safely completed today with David Cleveland winning the trophy.  Again today, the contestants faced difficult soaring conditions with cloudless thermals blowing apart in the wind.  It is interesting to note the strategies as Rob Eckel boldly "went for it" and won the day in a blowout and finished overall in third place. While the winner David was more conservative and strategic which kept him at the top.  All the racers flew well, particularly considering on most days after finishing the task, they had to deal with 20-25 knot winds on landing. 

It is always wonderful to host the cadets and officers from the USAF Academy Soaring Racing Team.  Thanks to the staff, Truckee and ASI towpilots and of course our volunteers.
