Day 1

We are rejoicing that today was the first contest day at ASI in 3 years.

We had a really nice launch and all gliders remained aloft for the start of a 3 hour TAT.  We anticipated a weather change with an "enhanced zepher" due later in the day, and we offfered the racers an option to remain close.   Earlier than expected, the winds dramatically increased, and the lift disappeared.  Most of the field got caught short of the upwind turnpoint.  Two landouts at airports and the rest recovered at ASI.   The winner of the day, Dan Thirkill was the first contestant to land. An interesting day.
