Saturday No Contest Day

The forecast for Saturday was not too promising but the CD and advisors felt we should give it a go, especially to give the Sports Class a try at a second contest day. The sky was overcast early on but gradually the sun peaked out. Of course this led to more heating and showers in the area.

We gridded at the normal time but waited until 1315 to send up Boris the Sniffer. He could not find any significant lift and dark storm clouds moved in from the south and east. The day was canceled shortly before 1400.

John Seymour [SM] wins the FAI Class. Unfortunately the Sports Class did not have a contest but CM Ann acknowledged Ed Winchester [H1] as the victor of their one contest day.

Although some of us here also chip in, R3-Dansville is largely the effort of the Finger Lakes Soaring Club. Ann Lafford, Rick Lafford, Jacquie Doherty, and FLSC President Dave Ruskauff lead the way. You can see below so many from this small club helping to make this a successful meet. Every effort big or small is important. Thanks to Jim Martin and Rick Roman for taking on the Weather and Scoring duties. Juniors Emily, Ivan, and Dhruva worked hard towing gliders around and running ropes on the line. Linda, Joni, and Jane made sure we were well fed all week. Thanks FLSC for your hard work and hospitality!

Next year we start the rotation again with Harris Hill. For you long time R3 fans, that means HHSC will now take the even years and FLSC the odd years. See you next summer on the Hill!
