Day 4

We were under a gap in the Cirrus field today. The task was a 2 hour Max Finish Bonus Task to Turon with a 10 mile radius and back. Launch started at noon with weak conditions. Lots of gliders were low but not nearly as many relights as yesterday.

The 1-26 task opened at 12:55 and the Low Performance Task at 1:26. There were cycles in the Cirrus that caused a lot of problems. Quite a few pilots made the area but many had trouble getting back. There were a lot of landouts in the area of Arlington with some pilots on the way out and others on the way back.

Colten Coughlin just kept going with the wind through the circle and towards Pratt. It looks like he got his Silver Distance.

Ron Schwartz blew a tire on his first landing at Sunflower and so his relight was delayed while they changed it. Kristin Farry was also late to launch. They both hit the second cycle of Sunshine and Ron managed to snatch the circle and then go to Kingman and back to Sunflower. Kristin landed out about 5 miles from Sunflower on her way back.

Valiant effort by all pilots! We are pretty sure we have a day but are waiting for the scores. This evening we enjoyed some local Salt City brews courtesy of Jerry Boone and Bob & Ruth Holiday brought out their bicycle ice cream maker.

See you tomorrow,

Tony
