Day 2

Good Evening,

This morning we flew the flag and played the national anthem of India for Akshay Pendharkar who is flying team with Cal Tax in 057.

Yesterdays winners were Jerry Boone in Low Performance and JimBob Slocum in 1-26.

Today we were able to get in a task for the Low Performance Class. The forecast was for a later starting day and generally weak climbs over wet fields from yesterdays rain. Cloudbase did eventually rise to slightly above 4000 AGL but most people who flew struggled at some point.

The task was a Finish Bonus Task with a first assigned turnpoint of Arlington. Most pilots came back to the Sunflower area to build up distance. Bill Snead tried to go downwind for miles and forgo the finish bonus. Jerry Boone landed out west of Hutchinson, hoping to get back. It appears the winner of the day was Marco in his Ka-8.

KSA Members hosted dinner tonight at the Soaring Center with everyone chipping in. Pulled Pork, Burgers, Chicken, Pies, Cheesecake, and various sides were all on the menu. Our friend Mike Warren brough his Hit & Miss engine to make ice cream.

Tomorrow looks like a pleasant day with good soaring. Talk to you tomorrow night!

Tony
