Pratice Day 2

Similar forecasts today as yesterday so no task was called. Many contestants enjoyed visiting the Cosmosphere and Salt Mine in Hutchinson. The Salt Mine is especially nice on days like today because it is 650 feet below ground and about 65F down there!

The wind didn't actually live up to expectations. Hardly saw a gust over 20 mph instead of the 30 that was forecast. Four intrepid pilots flew. Tom McKnight had the longest flight at just over an hour. Colten Coughlin, and Jason Cottingham tested the air out with flights between 30 and 45 minutes. The inversion was definitely strong enough to not be broken today.

Around 60 people attended dinner tonight, followed by the safety briefing. Brian Bird put together a nice slide show about landing options. We celebrated Tom & Mimi McKnight's 48th wedding anniversary!

There are indications that it might get hot enough tomorrow to break the inversion. We are hopeful!
