Contest Day 2 - Tuesday April 20

We awoke to a cloudy sky and a forecast that left little to feel positive about. There would be some openings in the cloud layer, but the question was where? CD McClung chose a 1:50 hour minimum time MAT in order to leave it up to those that could better assess the situation--- the pilots. Grid time was 12:00 with first launch at 12:30. It turned out to be better than it looked from the ground and with some encouragement from John Seymour the fleet was launched. The day was considerably slower than the previous two and the distances reflected that. Sports class has a maximum distance of 85.84 miles, open class was 102.36 miles, 122.6 in 18-meter and 104.7 in FAI class. Ken Sorenson played the game to a T when he chose to stay out a little longer and get a few more miles. As a result, his class (18-meter) was the only class with 1000 points awarded to the winner. No group gathering tonight, and with a forecast of high winds due to the passing of a cold front, tomorrow does not look promising.
