Not Quite Day 2

Hi race fans,
Well today was the day that almost kinda could have been, but wasn’t. We started the morning meeting at 9:30 under cold overcast and about 600 foot ceilings. The CD, task advisors and the weatherman had all done major amounts of early homework and all saw a sliver of hope late in the day. With that in mind the CD set 1:00 PM but also scheduled a 12:00 noon update back at the meeting hall.

The conditions had not improved much by noon and I really expected a cancelation but Marshal said, these soundings are usually right on the money and by 2:30 they are calling for 4500’ broken, we will grid and wait. So grid we did, wait we did and at 2:15 it was obvious this was not happening. The day was called and most headed for the tie downs. All except for KS, XA, P3 and SM. These guys decided to take a tow and do a backside ridge run. KS and SM both stayed up and flew but the other 2 returned due to it being way too hazy and not high enough ceiling for comfort.

Tomorrow we will have a look again, but the local forecast calls for a high temperature of 91 degrees and with all this moisture in the air, we are very likely to see big storms at some time during day. We shall see what tomorrow brings
