WX-Walt Rogers weather assessment Day 2

DAY 2 Mon 6-15-21 - Wx assessment by Walt Rogers

Recovery day as yesterdays 500mb “kicks out” to the NE leaving gentle W-NW low level winds and a much drier airmass… but with sufficient cu over the mountains to a good AAT 300km or so task. Cu bases were 10kt msl… and conditions were good east of Scott Valley along the N-S Marble mountains. Cu coverage only 2-5 pct today. The run to the east out toward Medcine Lk had a well marked cu line at 10-11k msl. Transitioning across the valley east bound was dicey due to the transition to higher terrain. Most had a difficult time… but I transitioned to the cu over the forests from 7k msl with a refreshing climb
