Day 4 - Standard Class Report-by Thomas Greenhill

Today's forecast called for blue and relatively weak conditions similar to Wednesday, but even hotter as the high settles in to our north.

A fairly sweaty grid-squat and some Juniors humor folowed after the pilots meeting... stay tuned for evidence of 6 juniors pretending to race in the same glider as a part of the six-seater racing category ;). Once we all launched, it quickly became clear that the weather was indeed much stronger than forecast.

We ended up fllying close to the maximum possible task distance to stay over minimum time, and those of us who didn't fill up fully with ballast largely regretted not having the higher wing loading. Several competitors finished with raw speeds exceeding 110 kph, and everyone was happy to have a fun, fast day as a change to the tree/rock polishing and in-cockpit meditation we subjected ourselves to earlier this week.

The forecast looks to be improving for the weekend, and we are all crossing our fingers for more fast tasks!
