Day 4 Report

Day 4 was Thursday August 22.  An 8 turn MAT was set up as the primary task with a 2.5 hour minimum time.  Task B same task with a 2.0 Minimum.  Just in case we had a back up task "C" and "D" planned consisting of a two turn TAT starting out West and finishing from the North.

The start was planned for 12:15 but was delayed until 12:30 to allow the CD and his trusty advisers more time to evaluate the weather.  Just before launch I pulled Task "D" out of my back pocket with a minimum time of 2 hours. 

All contestants returned with smiles on their faces.  Climbs averaged over 4 knots and approached 7000 feet.   Speeds for the winners increased to 66 mph for the FAI Combined winner Ken Sorenson and 55 miles per hour handicapped for his prodigy Matt Sorenson in the Sports class.  They were treated to a Logo high tech "Bucket Hat" provided by LXNAV and a one month subscription to "SkySight" our Weather Sponsor.

That evening a keg change provided our thirsty pilots with Ziegenbock Beer.  Our evening Repast consisted of Farfalle Pasta with Spicy Sicilian Meatballs in Paul Newman Organic marinara sauce, garlic bread and Edy's famous Mixed Green Strawberry Pecan California Salad.  Dinner was topped off with mini bites of chesse cake potpourri for dessert.  Edy Hollenberg was assisted in the kitchen by Karen Jackson and Susan Smolder.
