Pre Contest Report

We have had two successful practice days. Kansas had a record breaking May for rainfall but none the less we've had decent soaring over fields with standing water in low places.

Sunflower has not hosted a Nationals since 1989 Open Class. In the last year we've made a ton of significant improvements to the airport. Smoothing out the ramp was one item but the signature improvement was the completion of our new Soaring Center. We now have a huge indoor air conditioned space to use as contest headquarters.

Tonight we had opening ceremonies with speeches from myself and Andrew Peters, who is the member of the Sunflower Soaring Foundation. Morris Yoder provided the local greeting and declared the contest open. Kinsey Peters sang the national anthem and then Andrew's kids cut the ribbon. We all enjoyed a great dinner and then the safety briefing.

We've got a solid Facebook prescence, so follow along at https://www.facebook.com/USClubNats/

I'll try to make a daily update here.
