Practice Day

It was just that for the early part of the afternoon, and more like a racing day later on.  That is if you connected with the fewer than normal thermals.  Most pilots flew a deep height band, finding weak and strong thermals that stopped low or high.  Everyone got low, a few climbed high, some didn’t leave and a few ventured forth.  Five pilots completed the day’s task including Tony Condon flying in his Cherokee II at 33.1 mph in the low performance class, Ron Ridenour at a speed of 25.8 mph in the Sports Class, and Don Kroesch and Mike Solley at 39.3 and 32.1, respectively in the 18m class.
